Thoughtful Alternatives to Common Christmas Gifts

A big part of the Christmas season is all the gifts that are given to your loved ones. However, giving the wrong gift can be one of the best ways to ensure you do not have a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas.  A bad gift is not only going to be something that people hate, but it can be a huge mood-turner as well. Imagine giving someone something that is going to upset them…that will probably be even worse since Christmas is known as a time of happiness!

So, what gifts do you want to avoid giving in order to have a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas this year? Here is a list of items to really think about whether you should give these or not to your family and friends!

Sustainable and Environmentally-Friendly Gift Options for a Greener Christmas

1. A pointed self-help book! No one wants to have someone point out their flaws or how they need help during the holidays. A pointed self-help book can be a disaster to give. And trust us, the idea of having a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas is going to be out the window once the person reads the title of this self-help book.

2. Gift card to a restaurant not in the area. Yes, gift cards can be a great idea to give to someone, however, not when the gift card is for something that is not in the area. Do not give a gift card for something that requires over an hour drive…at this point, it becomes more of a nuisance than anything.

3. Eyebrow razors or hot wax: there is no need to give someone something like this, as all it says is your hairy and to get that under control. It is by no means a thoughtful gift that is going to have you have a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas.

4. Exercise Gift Basket or Membership: This is not what you want to give someone as it sends the wrong message. It is basically telling someone they may need a little cardio to get into shape.

5. Underwear: Why would it be okay to give anyone underwear that they are wearing that is not of their choosing? After all, does anyone else go around and tell the world what type of underwear they are wearing in hopes that someone gets them more pairs for Christmas?!

6. Your Old, Unwanted Items: We get it, to save a little money, it can be something to look around and think, well I’m not using this I will gift it. But, do not do this! Think of it this way, if you don’t want it, what are the chances that someone else will want it?

If you truly want to have a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas, then you need to make sure that the gifts you are giving are going to be something that the person loves and enjoys. Cater this gift to their individual tastes and you will find they will love it.
